Vintage Maurice Ascalon Metal Bowl
This lovely bowl was created by Maurice Ascalon (1913-2003), considered by some to be the father of the modern Israeli decorative arts movement. Ascalon immigrated to Israel in 1934 and soon set up the decorative arts company Pal-Bell, which focused on both Judaic and secular decorative arts. Ascalon’s popular and distinctive metalwork introduced the use of a chemically induced green patina, now a hallmark of Israeli metalwork.
